Great location! It is 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, shopping, supermarkets, and the bus stop. Even though everything is close, it is its own private oasis with huge old growth protected trees (Ceiba, Guanacaste, Roble) and a small river/estuary running through the property. All kinds of wildlife like monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, toucans, pizotes, as well as many other birds and animals visit the property. This is a highlight for guests who mention it frequently in reviews. The owners have a passion for gardening and tropical plants so many fruit trees and bananas have been planted including the very hard to find Blue Java banana.
This eco-lodge consists of two building. The first is made of three 40” recycled shipping containers. There is one studio apartment on the bottom level and a 1 bedroom apartment on 2nd level. The third level of this building is a large patio with hammocks where guests can feel the ocean breeze and listed to the waves crashing on the beach. This building also has two large storage “bodegas”. One is for the hotel operations and the other is use for the owners’ personal items. The second building is made of concrete blocks and is divided into 4 studio apartments. This second building also holds the laundry room and the second level is a huge screened in area for guests to enjoy yoga and lounging. During the building and design the current owners incorporated recycled plastic, rainwater collection, grey/black water recycling, solar power and permaculture into the property.
